the nature trail

The virtual immersion habitats and virtual animals at the Institute of Critical Zoologists

The Nature Trail - Tired of all these simulation? Get real in the nature trail and stalk the animal you choose in a real environment. We have over 100 species that are programmed into this simulation, which can be seen against real trees and boulders. The trick is to stay as quiet and move as steathily as possible to see the 5 big ones. Do not disturb the ants or you might end up with a nasty surprise up your legs.

There is a menagerie of some 100 species of animals in 'The Nature Trail' which one can stalk. Virtual animals are placed into a recreated forest instead of a dome to heighten the experience. Here, participants navigate through real trees, boulders, slopes and mud pools to stalk out and observe animals in the wild. Animals react accordingly from the participants actions. If the participant does not stalk a herd of deers stealthily, he/she may risk frightening the entire herd away.
